Film Series!

A Night at the Movies ...

Join us February 10, 7PM at Heartland Cafe for Kilowatt Ours: A Plan to Re-Energize America. This film is the second in our four-part film series, "Remaking the American Dream," in which we'll take a look at the culture and consequences of American consumption, and think together about what new visions of wealth and prosperity we might work for in the 21st Century.

Click here to download a flier for the entire series, and be sure to visit our Events page for details and to learn what else has been planned for the beginning of 2010!

"More and more surveys in the US are indicating a change in values taking place among consumers, who become more concerned about quality of life, food, health and the environment."

Great Unleashing

Leah Marshall says .... "If each group did a visual representation of their 2020 vision- we could have a gallery showing that could serve as our "grand unleashing"!"

Take a look at what Leah did using Comic Life.  It  can be downloaded for free at: http://comiclife.com/,
is compatible with both PC and Mac and, according to Leah, is incredibly easy… Continue

Welcome to Transition Rogers Park - A People's Movement!

Three of the toughest challenges facing humankind at the beginning of the 21st century are climate change, peak oil, and the economy. Transition Rogers Park, a local initiative built upon the foundation of the global Transition Towns Movement, is designed to strengthen ourselves against the effects of these challenges and create something new - a community where we "power down" and, in so doing, build resilience through relocalization, self-reliance and new relationships.

Come to our events. Stay connected by becoming a member of our online community. Bring your talents. Step up and join us so that you, too, can be a powerful force of change in our community! Read more here . . .

The cost estimate Leah and I drew up included costs for 2"x8or 10"x8or10'. That would be treated, but, as it is reuse, the chlorine has already evaporated.

The designing never ends. This is 90 4x4 beds.  Why not?  Some people could have two, some could be ornamental. There are more options for how we arrange them too.   All of these designs are dependent on what kind of materials we get.  The promise…

Funny that you mentioned Stamets. I ordered one of his books last week. I was torn between the one you recommended and Mycelium Running, and I went with Mycelium Running. I think I may check out Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms next.

I've added a new dimension to the plans.  All of these designs are based upon 8' 2x4 blocks.  I eagerly await comments, thoughts, or potential problems.  Next I'll probably combine the three different bed sizes in one design... The old: and the New…
