Oh, when I mentioned having food grown in this prospective garden, that didn't mean it should be all edibles. Going back to my first message from November about a Pottawattomie garden (and a connection to the region's history), I think that a collec…

Before Pam, Laura and I left Christine's place, Pam asked what was going on with Pottawattomie. I met with Barbara Dever on Tuesday to choose a garden site, get an update on water (there is no obvious outdoor source) and determine what kind of garde…

Hi Damon! What a great idea - and yes, this would be a good fit for the People's College of Transition Skills (PCTS). FYI - you need to join the PCTS group in order to post there. So ... set a date and venue and post it to the PCTS page AND add it…

Profile Information

Where do you live?
Rogers Park
Why are you choosing to join Transition Rogers Park?
I just saw the notices about the garden plan for Touhy Park, and I'd like to get involved.
What background or talents do you have that you can contribute to Transition Rogers Park?
I've worked for afterschool and arts enrichment programs in Ohio and Washington. I started a vegetable and flower garden with students while I was in AmeriCorps in Columbus, OH, and I helped maintain plantings with students in Seattle. I'm preparing to take horticulture certification classes through Harold Washington College and the Cook County Extension's Master Gardener program. I'm also developing my own vegetable garden installation business.

Transition Rogers Park is a grassroots, from the ground up, community organization. No one is going to tell you what to do and how to do it.

If you have a thought or idea that could move the community forward toward resiliency and self-reliance, put it out there....and then begin it!
